How To Stop Yourself From Giving up

Since primary school, the dreams I had set for myself were always bigger than life, bigger than me. Fast forward 10-15 years I find myself with one last dream that I can't let go of. I'm sure some of you can relate to that. Feeling like giving up is a common experience that everyone goes through at some point in their lives. Here are some things you can do when you feel like giving up:

1. Take a break
I know it sounds very ironic but sometimes, taking a break can help you to gain some perspective and re-energise yourself. Shutting out all external voices is crucial to let the most important voice of all have a chance to speak. Which is your voice.
2. Identify the problem
Identify what is causing you to feel like giving up. Once you know the problem, you can start working on a solution. According to T.A. Dar that "Lack of Discipline, Lack of Self Belief, Procrastination," and the mentality of "What Others Would Say or Think?" cause people to give up on their dreams. Escaping the victim mentality should be your first priority. Taking accountability will be one of the most important steps you take to attain your dreams.
3. Talk to someone
Reach out to someone you trust, like a friend, family member, or therapist. Sometimes talking about your problems can help you to feel better. But the thing is, the most honest people will hold you accountable. Either they will tell you to let it go and pursue something else (in most cases). Or they motivate you to try again because they see all the potential and greatness within you.
4. Focus on the positive
Instead of dwelling on the negatives, focus on the positive things in your life. This can help you to feel more motivated and optimistic. Whenever I feel demotivated and look at my bank balance thinking "damn! How will I make it through the month?" I remember that a cornered snake is a dangerous snake. Meaning you will be more determined to achieve your dreams because of your current state. Be at your best mentally to achieve great feats physically.
5. Set small goals
You all know the saying, "big things come in small packages?" Well, I am sure they were referring to goal setting. Let's be honest, you won't achieve anything by doing nothing but you'll achieve so much more with multiple-consistent-goal-driven steps. Break down your larger goals into smaller, more manageable ones. This can help you to feel like you are making progress and give you a sense of accomplishment. Remember you can't finish a full plate of food in one bite. It takes multiple spoonfuls to finish your Sunday plate or whatever you're eating while reading this very delightful article.
6. Remember your past successes
Think about other times when you faced challenges and overcame them. This can help you to remember your strengths and resilience. Remember when you came 3rd or 2nd in that race in middle school years ago? Whatever you need to remember, remember it like your life depends on it and push through adversity.
7. Seek inspiration:
Look for inspiration in books, movies, or online. You might find a story or quote that resonates with you and helps you to feel motivated.
Remember that feeling like giving up is normal, but it doesn't have to be the end. There are always options and solutions, even if they are not immediately apparent.
Closing
In closing, I would to thank every one of my readers because they give me hope. It's hard being crazy talented like me but inherently lazy (also like me) and wanting to achieve your dreams. Somewhere you have to draw the line and say "I am going for my dreams."
